OfficeLock protection is application-based,

into Windows applications to protect everything you create. An OfficeLock

protects your emails and files no matter where they are located: on your
desktop PC, laptop or anywhere on your network.

experience necessary. Employees log on and that's it, the OfficeLock
software does the rest. This means your organization saves money
by avoiding additional overhead for user training.

The OfficeLock product family uses
an encryption engine the provides either 448-bit Blowfish
encryption or, in the G2 product, FIPS 140-2 certified AES
256-bit encryption. Blowfish is also fast, encrypting up to 8.3 megabytes
per second on a Pentium 150, making OfficeLock very fast.

Most publishers of data security
software do not make the source code, and therefore the soundness,
of their encryption engines readily available for public review
and critique. In contrast, OfficeLock software uses "open source" encryption
engine from OpenSSL.org The open source code of the OpenSSL encryption
engine is freely available for cryptographic peer review
and has withstood years of rigorous scrutiny by international
experts.

attached to e-mail.

When a file is "deleted",
it is not really gone from your system. Hackers can still easily
recover the original data. Closing this security gap is
automatic for OfficeLock users as the product shreds a
deleted file by thoroughly wiping its binary data from the
hard disk so it cannot be recovered. The OfficeLock
mechanism provides shredding that exceeds the U.S. Department of Defense mandated
standards for secure file removal necessary to prevent unauthorized
disclosure of classified information.

Most Windows programs create
temporary files which contain exact copies of your data. These
temporary files are supposed to be deleted by the programs which
create them. Hackers can easily recover this data, as they can
with any deleted file. OfficeLock seamless integration with the applications automatically
identifies, tracks and shreds temporary
files so they can't be recovered.

How do you
share files with co-workers and stay protected? An OfficeLock
solution
allows the creation of secure groups, with each group containing
any number of authorized members. Once you join a secure group, no
further steps need be taken. OfficeLock protection automatically encrypts
and decrypts files and emails protected for the created group. Members can always
choose which files they want or don't want to share with the
rest of the group.
An
OfficeLock secure group can be comprised of senior management
or partners, or it can be divisional, such as for Marketing,
Finance or Human Resources. The OfficeLock secure group feature
allows you to share encrypted files both over a network
as well as via e-mail. You can therefore invite people from
outside the network, such as vendors or consultants,
to join specific groups.

Installing OfficeLock
software allows you to share
protected files among multiple PCs, such as your laptop and desktop,
or your office PC and your home PC. Using the special "Setup on
Second PC" installation
feature, both PCs can share the same encryption keys, allowing
you to move files back and forth with no hassle.

OfficeLock functionality allows you to encrypt
and decrypt files to and from removable media, such as floppy
or zip disks. Your data files can now be transported securely.

If you leave
your computer for an extended period of time, the OfficeLock
security features will
automatically log you off. This ensures that the prying eyes
of unauthorized users cannot access your encrypted files. Automatic
log-off can be set to occur after a period of keyboard/mouse
inactivity ranging between one and sixty minutes.

During installation, OfficeLock
user setup
creates an escrowed key. This key enables recovery of encrypted
data in the event an employee forgets a log-on password
or in the event of employee termination. Using the escrowed
key, the system administrator can generate a new log-on
password, as well as gain access to any encrypted data.

Although
OfficeLock sofware always provides the same high level of security
for encrypted files, you can choose from three different encryption
automation levels: High, Medium and Low.
- The High setting encrypts all files automatically.
- The Medium setting
interactively asks for permission to encrypt each time a
file is closed.
- The Low setting only provides encryption
on demand.
Importantly,
these settings can be customized on a per-application basis,
so you can tailor your security policies to match the
organizational needs. For example, an accountant may need to
encrypt all Excel documents (High automation), some Word documents
(Medium automation), and no Notepad or Adobe Acrobat documents
(Low automation).

Unlike
competing encryption software, OfficeLock protection enables you to search
for files using properties such as title, author and keywords.
Because of its seamless integration into Microsoft Office, OfficeLock
software handles document data and document property information
separately. The result is securely encrypted documents that can
still be retrieved using Office file search tools, as well as
document management systems.
